The Punjab government has issued a Minimum Wage Increased Notification 2023. So, the government has announced on 30th March 2023.
However, the minimum wage for employees in Punjab, Pakistan’s largest province, has risen to Rs32,000 per month.
Following the Governor of Punjab’s approval of the increase in the minimum wage for workers, a gazette notice was also released. The secretary of the Punjab Minimum Wages Board announced in the official gazette.
It may be recalled that Punjab Finance Minister Owais Leghari presented the provincial budget of Rs32.26 trillion for the fiscal year 2022–2023 in June of last year, amid an extraordinary constitutional and political situation. This budget included a 15% increase in public employee salaries as well as an Rs20,000 increase in the minimum wage for daily wages and laborers. It was also decided to increase it to Rs25,000.

(Dunya News) LAHORE – The minimum wage for workers will rise, according to the Punjabi government.
According to the most recent notification from the secretary of the Punjab Minimum Wage Board, the minimum wage has increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 32,000 per month.
After receiving the governor of Punjab’s approval, this choice was made.

The decision to raise the minimum wage for laborers to Rs32,000 was taken at a meeting yesterday (Wednesday), under the direction of the secretary of labor.
It was also agreed at the meeting to publish the draught of the minimum wage in the official gazette.

Minimum Wage International E-Commerce Company Analysis:
An international e-commerce company’s analysis found that minimum salaries in Islamabad and Punjab increased 14.4% in January 2022 compared to the same month the previous year.
In these two regions, the minimum salary rose from Rs. 17,370 in January 2021 to Rs. 19,870 in January 2022, according to the poll. In terms of US dollars, Pakistan’s minimum salary was $114.
Yet, at the same period, India’s minimum wage increased to $96. Comparatively, Pakistan’s minimum salary rose 18.8% more in January 2022 than India’s did.
Pakistan has been placed 12th for the largest increase in the minimum wage in the poll that examines the minimum wage increases for January of this year across 64 countries.
Keep in mind that this is not the federal minimum wage and that only Islamabad and Punjab are covered by the survey.
Overall, the minimum wage in Montenegro increased by 102.7% in January 2022 compared to the same month the previous year, placing it first in the poll. The poll found that tax exemptions for people making the minimum wage were still in place in Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Nigeria.
The report also examined the costs of eight basic foods in comparison to the federal minimum wage. There are 10 loaves of bread, 10 liters of milk, 1.5 kg of rice, 20 eggs, 1 kg of cheese, 6 kg of meat, 6 kg of fruit, and 10 kg of vegetables (4 kg).
It was stated that these amounts of necessary foods would be sufficient to meet the minimal nutritious needs of a typical adult making the minimum wage.
