In Pakistan, Iqbal
Day is celebrated on 9 November each year,
on the birthday of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He is our national poet as well as he
played a huge role in independence. He was an Urdu poet as well as a philosopher.
In the East, he is known for his poetry and
philosophy, and is also known as the ‘’Poet of the East’’.
National Holiday
on Iqbal Day:
Usually, we observe a national holiday
on his Birthday. The government gives a holiday on his birthday as an honor for his
hardships for Pakistan. Every Pakistani celebrates his birthday with great
enthusiasm.
Who was Allama
Muhammad Iqbal?
Allama Muhammad Iqbal was a poet,
philosopher, and lawyer. He is well known for his Urdu poetry. He is regarded
as one of the most influential poets in the history of Urdu literature. He
wrote many poems including poems for kids, Ode, and many poetries related to Islam
and Muslims. In his poetry, he wrote about the times when Muslims were
prosperous. He used his poetry to lead Muslims on their way to independence.
About his Life:
Allama Iqbal was born in Sialkot on 9
November, 1877. He studies different languages including Arabic, Persian, and Urdu
at home. He studied law at Cambridge University.
He practiced law in Lahore but he
devoted his most of time to Philosophy and writing poetry.
About his poetry:
Allama Iqbal used to write poetry with deep
meanings. He used his poetry to lead Muslims of the Subcontinent. Some of his poetry
books are Asrar-e-Khudi (Secrets of Self), Ramuz-e-Bekhudi (Mysteries of
Selflessness), and Bang-e-Dara (The Call of the Marching Bell).
He not only wrote poetry in Urdu but also, wrote poetry in the Persian language. He wrote poetry on different themes like
love, spirituality, social justice, and politics.
About his
political life:
Iqbal was the part of All-India Muslim
League. He joined this political party in 1926 and was a prominent figure in
the party until he died in 1938.
He was a strong advocate for Muslim’s
rights. He supported the Indian Independence movement and advocated for Muslim rights. He represented Muslims of the Subcontinent.
He was the one who asked Quaid-e-Azam to lead
Muslims of the Subcontinent. He was the best friend of Quaid-e-Azam and helped him
in his work to give Muslims a separate homeland. He stood with Quaid and never
left him alone in his struggles.
Iqbal’s Death:
He died on April 21, 1938. He may
have left this world but he is still alive in the hearts of every person who
reads his poetry. He will remain alive through his poetry in the heart of every
poetry lover. His efforts for this country are before appreciation.
