 Eid-ul-Adha in Pakistan, 2024

In Pakistan, Eid-ul-Adha is expected
to fall on 17 June 2024.

What is Eid-ul-Adha?

Eid-ul-Adha is a religious festival
of Muslims which is celebrated on the 10^th of Dhul-Hajjah. It is
celebrated in memory of the incident of Hazrat Ibrahim(P.B.U.H) and His son
Hazrat Ismail (P.B.U.H).

When prophet Ibrahim (P.B.U.H) got the
order to sacrifice His son Ismail (P.B.U.H) for the sake of Allah. And He did
so and obeyed the orders from Allah.

Hence this religious festival is celebrated
to commemorate two Prophets Ibrahim and His son Ismail (P.B.U.H) and their
obedience to their God Allah. This incident is stated in the Quran and is also known
by Jews and Christians.

How it is celebrated?

It is celebrated by Muslims. Muslims
sacrifice certain types of livestock (mostly cows, sheep, etc.) to show their
obedience to Allah. After sacrificing, they distribute fresh meat to the poor
and orphans. This practice is known as Udhiyah (also known as Qurbani) and
occurs in the morning of Eid-ul-Adha.

Eid-ul-Adha 2024, Understanding the
concept based on the Islamic calendar :

Hajj falls in the Islamic month of
Dul-Hajjah. Some scholars use different methods to determine when this lunar
month will fall. They determine its date by observing the orbiting of the moon
around the Earth.
